If It Isn't 100% AAOIFI-Compliant, It Probably Isn't Shariah-Compliant
Always ask for proof that an Islamic finance certificate is 100% AAOIFI-compliant. If an Islamic finance certificate is not third-party accredited 100% AAOIFI-compliant, there is a pretty good chance that the certificate itself is not Shariah-compliant. AAOIFI (pronounced “a-o-fee”) stands for the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions and is the leading standard-setting body in the Islamic finance industry. Many times certificates mention AAOIFI in their programs, or claim to have a membership with AAOIFI, but this is not the same thing as actually being AAOIFI-compliant. 100% AAOIFI-compliance means that a third-party has checked the material for complete adherence to AAOIFI’s latest Shariah Standards. One giveaway is that if Bai al Inah or Bai al Dain are taught in the program, it is not 100% AAOIFI-compliant. To our knowledge, only Ethica’s certificates are third-party accredited 100% AAOIFI-compliant. Remember to ask for proof of 100% AAOIFI-compliance. It is your right as a customer.
